The Trump Era Described in one Powerful Sentence
Your Friday Briefing of the New York Times dated Friday April 13 2018 states that Comey’s memoir “A Higher Loyalty” to be released in three days is already a best seller. He is the former F.B.I. director and a key player in the early days of Trump. You will recall that he was fired by the President last May. I would like to share with you one sentence from the memoir quoted in the article which speaks volumes:
“We are experiencing a dangerous time in our country, with a political environment where basic facts are disputed, fundamental truth is questioned, lying is normalized and unethical behaviour is ignored, excused or rewarded."
A very logical question immediately comes to mind: What to say of a people, a nation and the system which elects such a scandal ridden scoundrel to the Highest Position in the Country, the Presidency and then continues to keep him there in the second year? Do they deserve any respect in the International Community? As an American, I would like to reply yes, but I cannot.
