A New, Fully Formed "International Statesman"
I love GPS. It is a highly educational, very well designed and balanced program with carefully and appropriately selected menu for each version. It is simply fun to watch. No wonder I was taken aback when Netanyahu is honored as an "International Statesman". Does he not remind you about Mahmood Ahmedinijad in his speeches, outlook and approach. Mind you, we are not discussing the State of Israel; we are talking about its present leader. He has a very myopic view in his dealings outside Israeli borders, an antithesis of international approach and does not hesitate to act as a cheap politician, completely contrary and insulting to a statesman.
Myopic, because he regards Israel not only as the center of our world but the only respectable part of the the planet worth considering. He is extremely ungrateful: First, he knows that he owes his present position to the strong support of the international community in 1949, yet he persistently and regularly treats international opinion with disdain forcing USA to compete with Russia and China in the use of veto in the security council. Second, he enjoys total and across the board support of our country as our "most important ally" yet when our President advises him to stop expanding the obviously illegal settlements, he unabashedly turns against him personally and cleverly uses our partisan divide for this purpose. Only a dirty politician will declare two days before election that there will not be a Palestinian state under his watch and then have the temerity to twist around it the very next day. Finally, Fareed he has used his present position to govern Israel as a tyrannical occupying force for a large part of its population.
